A **polygon** is a **flat figure** which is delimited by segments. Among the different classes of polygons, are the **triangles** : polygons formed by **three segments** (sides)

If we focus on triangles, on the other hand, we can find different types of figures. In the case of **scalene triangles** , They are that **they have three sides of different length** . In other words: the three sides are different.

This particularity differentiates the scalene triangles from the **equilateral triangles** (all three sides measure the same) and of the **isosceles triangles** (they have two equal sides). The scalene triangles, on the other hand, house **three interior angles that are also all different** .

Suppose a triangle is formed by a **side** 62 centimeters, a side of 42 centimeters and a side of 51 centimeters. Because the three sides have different lengths, it is a scalene triangle.

Likewise, according to what is expressed about the angles, if a triangle has interior angles that measure 67º, 42º and 110º, it will also be classified as a scalene triangle.

It is important to mention that, according to the measure of their angles, the scalene triangles can be **rectangles** (they have a right angle), **obtuse angles** (have an obtuse angle) or **aquatic angles** (all of its angles are acute).

Other important facts that are worth knowing about the scalene triangle that concerns us now are the following:

-To be able to carry out the calculation of the area of a geometric form of this type we have to do it from the one known as Heron's formula or other formulas according to the data that are available. Specifically, perhaps the most used option is the one that says that the area of this scalene triangle is the one that is calculated by multiplying base by height and the result by dividing it by the number 2. That is, a = b. h / 2

-With regard to its perimeter, we have to say that this is calculated by proceeding to make a simple sum of the measurements of each of its three sides. That means that the perimeter is equal to a + b + c. In the Mathematics subject taught in schools, students not only learn to calculate that value but also to draw with a ruler and compare a scalene triangle.

-In addition it is considered that a triangle like the one in question is a convex polygon.

-A singularity that manifests itself around triangles in general and specifically to the scalene that concerns us is that they are considered one of the most resistant geometric figures that exist. For that reason, it is established that they are preferred by many builders and architects when putting up any building, more specifically what would be the structures of that.

It should be noted that the term scalene is also used in the **geometry** with reference to **scalene trapezoids** which, like triangles of this type, present all their sides with different measures.
